ECDIS NACOS Platinum: Individual
Description
This 5-day course trains bridge watchkeeping officers in the efficient and secure use of Electronic Chart Display & Information Systems (ECDIS), in line with the guidance provided by IMO Model Course 1.27 for generic ECDIS training. The course is also approved for type-specific training on Transas NACOS Platinum.
The training aims are to equip delegates with the fundamental knowledge and skills needed to keep a safe navigational watch using ECDIS, interfaced with other onboard equipment to maintain safety of navigation. By course end, delegates have to demonstrate competence in using ECDIS to maintain a safe navigation watch as a part of effective bridge resource management.
Training is undertaken in a dedicated ECDIS training room at MSA Portsmouth and is focussed on the use of ECDIS under a range of voyage conditions, including pilotages, coastal transits and ocean passages. Our highly experienced instructors provide all the necessary underpinning knowledge for the efficient and secure use of ECDIS, while use of the latest desktop ECDIS simulators enables delegates to practice an extensive range of scenarios to reinforce the theory elements.
