GWO Fire Awareness (GWO)
This course is run in conjunction with Checkmate Lifting & Safety Training Limited.
Description
The aim of this course is to provide participants with the foundational knowledge and practical skills required to prevent fires within a Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) environment. Through a combination of theoretical and practical training, candidates will learn how to make an appropriate initial judgement when evaluating a fire. The programme also covers how to manage the safe evacuation of personnel in the event of an unmanageable fire, and how to efficiently extinguish an initial fire using basic handheld firefighting equipment if it is judged safe to do so.
Course Objectives:

Identify potential fire hazards within a wind turbine generator environment and implement correct preventative measures.

Demonstrate appropriate judgement when assessing a fire to determine the correct course of action.

Manage the safe evacuation and accounting of all personnel in the event of an unmanageable fire.

Operate basic handheld firefighting equipment safely and efficiently to extinguish a minor initial fire.
